My previous experience is extensive. I have worked in a number of different settings. I have worked for the NHS within an inner London doctors surgery under the services of the Maudsley Hospital.
There counselling was offered for a 12 week period which could be extended depending on needs of the client. I have also worked for a voluntary service in Horsham in Sussex which was overseen by the YMCA.Here counselling was offered for as long as needed which varied from six weeks to three years. I recently volunteered for another service in Littlehampton offering counselling to those on a low income. This was available to those that needed it for up to three years. What I have found most important to all my clients is that there is enough time, they are in control of how long they wish to come.
